What is Galentine’s Day?

Galentine’s Day is when you and your gal pals ditch the traditional overpriced romantic candlelight dinner, and the awkward date night loaded with all the expectations and spend some time with your best girlfriends instead. If you are not into the anxiety producing Valentine’s Day experiences, may I suggest a day, or even weekend at the beach. It almost it surreal all the pressure and stress there is surrounding Valentine’s Day, and it isn’t like I am opposed to it per say, its just sometimes you and your girlfriends need that no-stress unwind time together.

Why should I Celebrate?

Look I can’t say it better than Queen Bey “I love my husband, but it is nothing like a conversation with a woman that understands you. I grow so much from those conversations.” – Beyonce

Women intrinsically know what each other need, and the bond from the real conversations that women forge are the glue that holds society together. Keeping those bonds strong are what keeps us going… Nothing feels better than spending the weekend with your gal pals and catching up on your lives, your loves, and your stress. To let it out, air it out and refill your cup so you can tackle the next obstacle life inevitably places in your path. This trip could be any time, but Valentine’s is all about love, and without the love of girlfriends, the world would be a much sadder place. P.S. they also make decorations, and who doesn’t love an excuse for decorations???

Miami Beach Perfect Galentine’s Party Destination

Miami Beach is world famous, and honestly there is no surprise, it has the whole package: beautiful beaches, beautiful people, epic nightlife and amazingly good food. Seriously if you are looking for dancing and drinks, in a beach setting this is the perfect spot for you.

Start your trip with a quick (depending on traffic) 30 minute ride from the Miami International Airport (MIA) to South Beach. Skip the car rental if you are going to be staying in the South Beach area, because everywhere charges for parking, and it will be cheaper to get a taxi or rideshare anyway.

Find the perfect hotel in South Beach, there are tons of options and some of them even have the original art deco features from the 1920’s. They all have lovely drinks and are walkable, you really can’t go wrong as long as you find one in your budget, just make sure you stay along Collins Avenue (A1A) so you are close to all the action.

You are here to have a good time, that means grab a quick snack and head out to the beach to sun yourself. Most hotels will along here will have beach towels, but you can always bring one if you are worried. Make sure to bring the sunscreen, and reapply. You can now bring full sized sunscreen on your flights so YAY for that! Honestly, walk along the beach, and people watch, it is amazing and worth the trip down just for that.

You are now sunkissed (not burnt cause you reapplied) and can head back to the hotel to get ready. Grab a drink from the hotel bar, what better time for a mojito than now… Head up to your room and put on that slightly scandalous but oh so gorgeous outfit you picked especially for tonight. Being from Florida, it is important to remember that the breeze off the Atlantic can be a bit chilly, and you either need a sweater or be prepared to get your liquor sweater on. You and your crew are now ready to head out.

You have a lot of options for food, but if you are looking for the perfect sunset destination you can do no wrong with Juvia, it has an ocean view and the patio is gorgeous. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is perfect. PS it is probably walking distance also.

If you are feeling like being a little adventurous, then Jose Andres has a restaurant on SOBE and it is amazing, from the decor to the food you cannot go wrong. The Bazaar in the SLS South Beach Miami will be the perfect spot to start your night.

Then you need to head out to the clubs, if you are rolling deep with your crew you likely can find a club promoter on the strip who can get you free VIP entrance into some of the clubs in the area. This is an awesome way to get to have fun and keep the costs down.

If you are looking to be a high roller on this trip, then Mansion Nightclub is the place to go. Its lighting and drinks are over the top and the music is perfect for the trendy dance-happy crowd.

One other option is The Clevelander South Beach Hotel and Bar. It has a lovely pool and at night becomes a must hit destination if the weather is cooperating. The DJ mixes some epic music and you can easily dance the night away while you are here.

After all that dancing, you are gonna be hungry for some brunch in the morning. South Beach does brunch right, the three best options are Casa Isola Osteria, Osteria Mirini and Mila Restaurant. All three don’t start service until 11am, so if you somehow got up before then… well then you need to walk across Collins and grab a coffee at the Starbucks, and take a walk on the beach then head to brunch. You will basically be one of 10 people at the beach at this time and you can get the perfect picture of the beach sans people.

If you are staying longer, rinse and repeat… but if you are headed out after your quick trip you just had the perfect party weekend in South Beach!

St. Petersburg Beach Perfect Beach and Brunch Destination

The Pier at St Petersburg Beach
The Pier at St Petersburg Beach

St. Petersburg Florida is the perfect beach and brunch destination. If you and your crew are looking to get that balance of relaxation and nightlife then this is the spot. The newly rebuilt Pier is amazing, with restaurants, and a market on the weekends, and overall just a beautiful spot to enjoy the water you can’t go wrong spending the afternoon here.

You have two options for airports Tampa International Airport (TPA) or St Pete Airport (PIE) both are about 30 minutes to St Pete Beach and about 25 minutes to the downtown area. For hotel stays you can’t really go wrong staying on the beach area, there are tons of beach front resorts, including the pink and oh so iconic Don CeSar Resort.

You will likely have to take a taxi or ride share to the downtown area for some of the nicer restaurants, if you don’t want to stay on the resort property for food. There are lots of lovely options, but make sure to watch the sunset over the water before heading to any dinner spots.

If you are feeling up for some south of the border fun, Red Mesa Cantina is the perfect spot for open air eating, tequila and delicious food. You will love the atmosphere, and all the tequila options. Who doesn’t love a good taco, and this place is solid when it comes to tacos.

If you are looking for something unique, Ceviche is the perfect tapas spot. You really can’t go wrong with all the amazing options and the ceviche is top notch. The Flamenco shows are a must hit as well.

Teak is on the St. Pete Pier and it has the most amazing views of the water. The food has some lovely options, but honestly it is all about the views when you are up in this restaurant.

Late night in St. Pete is all about being playful, you can hit up Park & Rec DTSP that has the best balance of arcade games, giant beer pong, and skeeball… Is any club complete without skeeball anymore?

Jannus Live is an epic spot for concerts, honestly saw Gavin Degraw there many moons ago and it was the best location ever. If you are into a more relaxed concert venue, where you can truly feel the music this is the spot. Check their website to see if you can find tickets for whatever is coming the weekend you are here, you won’t be disappointed.

If you just want some dive bar atmosphere, St. Pete can provide that too… Mastry’s is your spot on Central Ave. it should check all the dive bar boxes you may need to check.

Brunch is required and St. Pete delivers there are so many options. Datz is delicious and they have a new waffle every weekend, you really can’t go wrong with waffles. Donkey said it best “and in the morning, I’m making waffles” so really nothing wrong with the epic waffle breakfast.

The Library is oh so pretty with the books, and they serve pancakes! If not waffles then pancakes, if you are not into the gluten, then they have an amazing espresso martini that should check the boxes?

Maybe brunch is not a place to not like gluten huh? The next amazing spot is Maple Street Biscuit Company… so many biscuits so little time. A whole menu dedicated to biscuits how could you not love it?

If you are staying down on the beach, spend the day relaxing (with sunblock) and again make sure to watch the sunset. There is nothing better than the west coast of Florida, the white sand, and the way the sun bows to the ocean every night just never gets old.

Siesta Key Perfect Relaxing Beach Destination

Siesta Key Florida is off the west coast of Florida near Sarasota Florida. Siesta Key is the perfect relaxing beach destination. You and your gal pals will spend the perfect Galentine’s Day weekend enjoying the sun, sand and sea. Find a beach rental walking distance to the beach, and make sure it comes with beach chairs.

The closest airport is Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) it will take about half an hour to get to the beach from the airport, depending on traffic. You could rent a car and take it into Sarasota for dinner if you feel ambitious, or you could do a ride share and stay on the island for the whole weekend.

There is plenty to do if you feel motivated, you can rent kayaks, SUP (stand up paddle boards), canoes, jet skis, or even do an evening sunset boat ride. If you feel like biking you can also rent bikes to head around the island with.

This happy beach town, has one of the best beaches in the United States, and even if all you do is just spend all day every day at the beach you have spent the weekend the right way. The beaches really are gorgeous, and because it is on the west coast of Florida, make sure to hang around and watch the sunset every night.

You can cook at your rental or head out and try the local cuisine, if you eat nothing else you must get hot and fresh doughnuts from Meaney’s Mini Donuts, at least once a day, but share them so it isn’t as bad when you go back later to get more.

Truly take time to enjoy the views, stand where the ocean meets the land and soak in all the good vibes it gives, and savor every moment with the women who help to refill your cup
