48 Hours in Fort Myers FL

48 Hours in Fort Myers FL is a perfect vacation spot, it is located on the West side or Gulf Side of Florida offering miles of beautiful Gulf of Mexico beaches. It is in Lee County, and there is an international airport right in Fort Myers, Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW).

The weather is beautiful year round, although it is the most beautiful in the winter months November-April when it stays mostly in the 70 degree range. Summer can be hot and humid, but as it is off-season, you can find cheaper flights and hotels, and the restaurants are less busy! A weekend, or 48 hours, in Fort Myers Florida is not a lot of time, but you can make the most of it!

Day 1 Exploring Fort Myers FL

Day 1: Flying into Fort Myers Airport is a breeze, and although public transit is likely not the best option (only buses) the rental agencies are all either on property or 5 mins down the road. Once you land you need to hit up some food, if you are feeling farm to table, Artisan Eatery is amazing and only a 10 minute drive from the airport.

If you are visiting in the spring, then baseball spring training is in full force, you can hit up two different professional options, The Boston Red Sox at Fenway South Park, or The Minnesota Twins at the CenturyLink Sports Complex. Whatever rocks your socks. (haha see what I did there, knee slapper)

If you came for some beautiful beaches then Fort Myers has the beach vibe covered. The Bowditch Point Park is beautiful, Lynn Hall Beach park has a fishing pier, Bunche Beach is a tranquil beach, and Lovers Key State Park is quintessential Florida. To have a more party atmosphere, hit up the Fishing Pier and surrounding Fort Myers Beach area. There are fun bars, and they will make you a killer pina coloda you can take to go! Make sure to wear sunscreen, this far south the sun beats down hot and fierce!

Staying in downtown Fort Myers, ensures you will be close to all the clubs and restaurants. If you are looking for a more chill vibe, hit up Millennial Brewing Company it is family friendly and they offer beers, non-alcoholic options and always have some food trucks available. If you are feeling a little more upscale, Harold’s is a nice option, or if you have never been The Melting Pot is a fun experience!

Once the sun goes down it is time to head out to one of the night clubs in downtown Fort Myers, my personal favorite is The Firestone Skybar & Martini Bar because of the views of the water, but you need to get there early as it gets crowded quick! It also has multiple floor which offer different atmospheres and live DJs. The newest location is Beacon Social Drinkery, at the new Luminary Hotel & Co and if it is in your budget it seems a super nice option to stay.

Day 2 Exploring Fort Myers FL

Day 2: If you are feeling more cultural, both Thomas Edison and Henry Ford had estate here in Fort Myers and their houses are historic and open for tours! The Forever Fiore Tear House is great for tea, and those coveted insta pictures. The Broadway Palm Dinner Theater is a great option, for some local theater and a great buffet meal, order the prime rib it is great!

Line Dancing and Axe Throwing

Then comes some more fun, The Ranch Concert Hall & Saloon has line dancing on Friday and Saturday nights, and has a summer concert series. It is fun to take the lessons, and get a couple drinks in with the loud country music. Right next door to The Ranch, is Lumber Axe Whiskey Bar & Grill, where you can throw real live axes! If you have never thrown axes before here is your chance. It is super fun, they have games to complete in, and a great drink and food menu!

Sunsets at the Beach

Finally, you need to watch a sunset on Fort Myers Beach, the sunsets on Florida’s Gulf Coast are the most beautiful in the world! Any of the beautiful Gulf beaches will work (The Bowditch Point Park, Lynn Hall Beach park, Bunche Beach, or Lovers Key State Park).
