Lincoln Nebraska is a great place to visit as it is the capital of Nebraska and there are a lot of things to do, it is hard but below is the Top 10 Things to do in Lincoln. The Lincoln airport is smaller side, but it does service both Delta and United Airlines. Amtrak goes through Lincoln so if you are doing a train ride across the United States, you can go through Lincoln and make a stop there.

If you are visiting Lincoln via car, or perhaps a rambling road trip the drive from Kansas City, MO is just three hours, Des Moines Iowa is also three hours, or maybe you are super committed and you came from further north Minneapolis which is about 6 1/2 hours away by car. The major road running through the state of Nebraska and through Lincoln connects Colorado is interstate I-80.

Parking in Lincoln Nebraska is easy downtown. There are 23,000 spaces that are metered but usually the first hours free so if you want to just walk around for an hour and then move on you can do that or no fee.

Visiting Downtown Lincoln

Downtown Lincoln is where we spent most of our time. We explored the Haymarket District and enjoyed some of the local breweries. The sunset in the Haymarket Haymarket district is unbelievably beautiful, even in the winter.
Union plaza is located at 21st and P streets had access gateway to downtown Lincoln and introduces native Nebraska plants following a winding path that the antelope Creek takes past downtown Lincoln. It’s a beautiful opportunity to get outside and enjoy some nature always a good idea to climb some rocks .
You cannot miss Centennial mall it’s seven blocks through downtown Lincoln. It has been continuous celebration of a good life in 2017 a 10 foot tall statue, honoring chief standing Bear of the Ponca tribe was unveiled in the campus zone but the weather is nice. It’s a great place to get outside and enjoy .

Lincoln So many things to do

If you visit Nebraska in the summer between May and September, you will see that there’s quite a few farmers markets. The Haymarket farmers market is open on Saturdays around seventh and P streets.
The Sunday, farmers market is also an opportunity to support local vendors and has a huge selection of fruits and vegetables.
Lincoln Nebraska is all about the great outdoors. There are 6000 acres of Parks 131 miles of trails and nine public pools. Spending time outside is important. If you’re coming to visit Nebraska you can rent kayaks and stand-up paddleboard‘s from the Lincoln paddle company, or you can canoe with outdoor adventures from you and UNL.
Robbers Cave is located south of downtown. It’s an underground attraction and it’s also listed in Atlas Obscura you can do a tour of the cave, if caves don’t freak you out. Tours are available seven days a week due to the popularity, you have to book in advance to book in advance go to robberscavetours.com.

Top 10 Things to do in Lincoln

One thing that makes Lincoln Nebraska unique is a Merge Link. It is a mural project to promote small businesses in the area. There are currently 10 beautiful murals to see.
The Morrill Hall has four floors of fossils science and culture exhibit from around the world, including a mammoth. This is located at the University, Nebraska Lincoln. Lincoln also has a children’s museum, a zoo, a quilt museum, the National Museum of Rollerskating.

The Lincoln Monument when you visit is located next to the state capital. It is always fun to visit the stated capitals along the way and see what they have to offer, unfortunately when we went it was under construction. There were protesters, and that always makes you happy because seeing people support the government and utilize their free speech is always a good thing.

Where to stay and Eat

If you’re looking for a place to stay, the graduate hotel is a new chain that is vintage in all of its decor. It feels like you stepped back into the 1950s or 60s and there’s an antique fun things in every room that make it unique and different parking is not included and was an additional fee, but they do have a garage next to them , the hotel did have a pool although we didn’t visit it so I can’t say from experience how that was across the street there was some bird brewery and food options if you’re looking for those types of options
For breakfast in the morning grab coffee and an amazing breakfast sandwich called a cromelette. The sandwich will literally change your life. It has all the the flaky goodness of a croissant and the warm goofiness of scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese. It is hand held and walkable. It is served fresh and warm, and it will literally change your life. I had dreams about this sandwich for weeks after I came home if you if you don’t hit up The Coffee House in Lincoln you are missing out.

Supporting Local in Lincoln

It wouldn’t be visiting somewhere new if we didn’t support a local bookstore A Novel Idea in Lincoln Nebraska is the epitome of an independent bookstore. They have new and used books. They have a cat that looks at you like you’ve invaded their personal space, and you should leave immediately in the best way . They have adorable merchandise and you can’t help but want to spend hours and stacks of money in this wonderful place. You can tell the owners love books and will gladly recommend you a new book to read. If you just tell them what you like how can you possibly not want to support places like this?
Once you finish your book tour and you got enough books to keep you occupied it’s time to continue on our road trip going across Nebraska next stop is Scotts Bluff national Monument.
